Let me give it to you straight: this place should simply not be listed on a "hotel" website: it's a halfway house masquerading as a motor inn. The proprietor is a well-meaning, overwhelmed, but oddly vigilant man who is trying his best to pretend the happenings on these premises are normal. And, to be fair, Anchorage itself is a seedy and bizarre town. But this is an establishment charging $200 a night! It's unacceptable.
Half the building is boarded up and appears to be condemned. Only a few rooms seem to be for paying customers, and these are hidden behind a rusty gate with a handwritten sign that says "DO NOT GO BEYOND THIS POINT." The other 80% of the building, often locked behind a cage, seems to be reserved for squatters and addicts. There's constant flow of social workers. Cabs are dropping off dazed vagrants, many of whom do not pay their drivers and get in screaming matches with them. Broken men soaked in stale piss linger at the gates.
As for the room: there is a large gap in the door which opens out to this vivid outdoors; wind howls through the crack. The shower was caked in pubes & boogers, there were (blood? rust?) stains on the linens & towels, & the floors are filthy enough to quickly turn white socks black. I kid you not: the room key was a recycled Pizza Hut rewards card run through a sketchy RFID programmer! I've never been so relieved to check out of a property in my life, though honestly I feel bad for the proprietor, whose Sisyphean task carries on.

The property looked like it should’ve been torn down! We pulled up in the Uber drive us waited because he was afraid to let us stay there. If it wasn’t 1 o’clock in the morning, I would’ve left and tried to find someplace else to stay. We needed to be on a cruise the following morning at 10 AM so we didn’t have much of a choice. The room smelled like it had just been sprayed with bug killer. The furniture looked like it came from a thrift shop. I would not recommend this place at all. Half the property was gated off with chain leak fence. This should be taken off the website altogether. Do not stay here.

Refrigerator had 3” of ice in it. Ice tray was not visible. Near a loud road. Guess you get what you pay for.
