We knew in advance that we were paying the highest rates precisely for the view versus an upper quality accommodation. And what a stellar view of the castle it was! Exceptional view aside, the room was pretty basic. bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. The carpet was stained and the room was otherwise unremarkable. That said,

The Premier Inn is convenient, as it is right on Prince's Street and close to Rose Street, a nice pedestrian street. Our own room was clean, but very small, and faced the back of the hotel. I recommend asking for a room with a castle view for a better experience. The staff was businesslike, but not particularly friendly or helpful. We did not take the breakfast package, and there are convenient and less expensive alternatives for breakfast very nearby. The hotel had air-conditioning, but it turned off during the night unless we got off and restarted it. The WiFi worked well, but we had to sign in each day with a new passcode. Overall, our stay was fine, but this would not be my first choice for lodging in the future.

Worst experience ever in over 50 years of hotel stay was the absolute worst. Pillows stained, duvet insert filthy. Will never stay in this chain ever again.
