It was a pleasant stay, the room was quite large and so was the bathroom. Although the room I was allocated didnt match the room on the website, but it was fine. The decor of the hallway could do with an update. The food in the restaurant was nice both dinner and breakfast. The Hotel is in a beautiful setting but still close to the town centre. I would stay here again!

Initially given room 11. Condition of the shower was below standard with black mould evident on the grout and silicon. Highlighted this with reception and showed photographs of issues. Given alternative room 30, even more black mould evident (photographs taken and shown to reception). Issue should have been resolved the next day but ignored by management. Faults partly due to no heated towel rail or heating in the bathroom causing condensation in the bathroom and also in the bedroom. Windows were in need of maintenance. The mattress was oversized for the bedframe. This is not the level of cleanliness expected from a 4 star AA & Scottish Tourist Board hotel. Regardless of the hotel advising of a future refurbishment we would still expect a much higher level of cleanliness and comfort. We would also expect these issues to be addressed the first night our stay. That said, the evening meal was very good.

Unfortunately the latch on my bedroom door was broken so I had no way to lock it and did not feel secure. The severe mould in my shower was off putting as was a bath towel with a horrible red stain. The elderly lift was never working when we wanted it as guests were not closing the door. We went to the bar before our meal but couldn’t sit there as the loud voices shouting to each other and nonstop swearing made having a quiet conversation impossible. We spoke to staff but nothing changed. Please be aware that the dinner menu was not the same as the online menu and breakfast does not start until 8am. The staff including the manager were all very friendly and parking was easy but the hotel was definitely not worth the money. We were really disappointed.
