I recently stayed at Platinum in Katy with my son, granddaughter, and sister while we were in town for my nephew's graduation celebration. The hotel's location was convenient for our visit, and I appreciated that our room was clean when we arrived.
Unfortunately, there were several things that kept this from being a better experience. Even though I requested a non-smoking room, people were gathered right outside my door smoking cigarettes and marijuana. The smoke drifted into the area around our room, which was especially disappointing when traveling with family.
The lighting in the room also needs improvement. Several lights either didn't work or provided very poor lighting, making the room feel dark. The room included a kitchenette, which was a nice feature, but there were no dishes, utensils, or cookware available, so it wasn't very practical to use.
Breakfast was probably the biggest disappointment. We arrived about 30 minutes before breakfast ended, but many items had already run out and were not being replenished. I was able to make a waffle and get some coffee, but there were very few other options available, and the juice had already been put away. It would have been nice if the breakfast area had remained fully stocked until the posted closing time.
Overall, the clean room and convenient location were definite positives, but improvements to the breakfast service, room maintenance, and enforcing the non-smoking policy would make for a much better guest experience.
