Nelle Peters (1884-1974) was a trailblazing female architect who left an indelible mark on Kansas City's architectural landscape. Overcoming the challenges of a male-dominated field, she established herself as one of the most prolific architects of her time. During her remarkable career, Peters designed over a thousand buildings, including apartments, hotels, schools, and commercial spaces, with many of them listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Her signature style often incorporated elements of Georgian Revival, Tudor Revival, and Beaux-Arts, creating a unique fusion of architectural styles that has stood the test of time. Nelle Peters' buildings are celebrated for their elegant exteriors, intricate detailing, and functional layouts that prioritize comfort and livability. By staying in this historic penthouse designed by Nelle Peters, you'll have the opportunity to experience a piece of Kansas City's architectural history and appreciate the lasting legacy of a pioneering woman in architecture.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire penthouse during their stay. Please note that there are approximately ten steps leading from the street to the front door of the building. A newly installed elevator (2023) will swiftly take you to the top floor in seconds. For added security and convenience, both the apartment door and building door are equipped with keypads. However, between 10 pm and 8 am, guests will need to use a key fob to enter the building. Please be aware that a $100 fee will be charged by the building owner for any lost fobs.
Other things to note
I kindly ask our potential guests to be aware of the following information before booking:
1 This is a historic building, and while it has been well-maintained, some aspects may not be as modern or updated as in newer constructions. We believe this adds to the charm and character of the penthouse.
2 The building is located in a bustling area. While this provides an exciting atmosphere, some guests might not love the city experience
3 Professional management is available 24 hours for emergencies and during regular hours for non-emergency requests, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free stay.
4 The heating system is radiant heat and, being on the top floor, the penthouse may be slightly cooler in the winter months.
5 Air conditioning is provided through window units in the living room and bedroom to keep the space comfortable during warmer months.
6 I strive to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for all my guests. Therefore, I kindly request that you treat the space with care and report any damages or issues promptly.
7 Please respect our neighbors by keeping noise levels down, especially during late hours and early mornings.
8 If you are traveling with a pet, please ensure they are well-behaved and adhere to the pet policy, including the $200 fee.
By keeping these details in mind, I hope to ensure a pleasant and memorable stay for all my guest guests.
