We booked to stay at Haus Saarland am Rennsteig. On arriving at the hotel we found it was closed and a notice telling us to go to another hotel, Hotel Thuringenschanze which was about 0.5km away. Since we had arrived by public transport we had to walk there with our luggage. On checking in at the new hotel we were not offered Oberhof guest cards. This meant that we were unable to obtain the guest card discount when we visited the nearby SkiHalle.
We asked to stay an extra night. We paid for this in cash but the receptionist said she was unable to give us a receipt which made us feel very uncomfortable and worried about this transaction.
We found that the reception at Hotel Thuringenschanze was never manned. We had to interrupt the restaurant staff in the middle of meal service when they were obviously very busy.
