A hidden paradise located at The Pointe, on Hartstene Island. This gated community is located 30 minutes outside of Shelton on the North tip of the island. There is something for everyone in the family with a community pool and hot tub (OPEN SUMMER MONTHS ONLY), club house/community center, billiard & ping pong tables, basketball/pickle ball/tennis courts, kids play structures, cooking facilities/barbeques at the beach, 3.5 miles of private beaches and 5 miles of walking trails.
The space
Enjoy the beauty and serenity of the outdoors as you unwind at Barbary House, a 1300+ sq foot cabin with a gated garden in the back. While not located right on the water, it is a short walk in 3 directions to get to the beach.
Inside:
Cabin has two bathrooms and two bedrooms (one with king bed and the other with a queen bed) on the main floor and each bedroom has a separate door leading to the outside deck. The loft has two separate sleeping areas open to the downstairs with a twin-over-full bunkbed on each side.
There is a fireplace and wood burning stove available to help warm the cabin in the winter months with a wood supply next to the gated garden in the back. Please Note: During summer months all burning, including fireplaces and woodstoves is prohibited.
Kitchen:
-Basic pantry items include many spices, salt & pepper, oils, vinegars, sugar and flour.
-Keurig and French press available - Please be certain to bring your favorite Keurig coffee pods or your favorite ground coffee for the coffee press. There are also refillable pods for the Keurig in the drawer beneath
-Full kitchen with plenty of pans, utensils, dishes, glassware and toaster.
-Condiments in refrigerator are available for your use.
Outside:
A large deck with benches surrounding two sides of Barbary House and includes a dining table and 6 chairs, two rockers and two Adirondack chairs. The gated garden at the back of the cabin has a pole swing and outdoor teak furniture allowing for quiet time, reading, a cup of coffee in the morning or cocktails in the evening.
Pool / Spa:
The pool/hot tub is located at the Club House. PLEASE NOTE: pool/hot tub is only open from Memorial day to Labor Day.
Outdoor Grill:
A small gas grill with propane tank is available. There are also BBQ grills available down at the picnic areas on the beach.
Outdoor Activities:
-Tennis/Pickle-Ball/Basketball courts available, bring your own equipment.
-Two kayaks with paddles are available at the cabin for guest use. Several adult life vests are available.
-Children’s Play Structure - Located by the clubhouse
Guest access
The entire cabin is available for you and your family/guests with the exception of several locked cabinets and storage areas containing the home owners personal belongings and a few personal items in the master bedroom closet.
Other things to note
The Pointe is a safe and secure location with its own security patrol. With a 15MPH SPEED LIMIT (strictly enforced) you and your entire family can feel free to walk, jog or bike safely regardless of your age. Dogs must be leashed at all times with the exception of those beach areas noted on the map of The Pointe (see map on cabin wall located by washer/dryer.
